"Happy Memorial Day" ?! Really...Still?

This morning I received a promotional text from a local Car Wash Company. "Happy Memorial Day Weekend from ********* Auto Spa! Honoring our heroes with a sparkling tribute. Stop by today and shine on with us! 🇺🇸🚗✨" I do not know what the message was trying to convey with words like honor and tribute, but to me, It was triggering. To be clear, I am not angry at them or asking they be boycotted for their lack of awareness / sensitivity. I simply want to vent a moment about something that, at this point, with so many wars and lives lost in our recent past, should be a given. Memorial Day is for our fallen brothers and sisters. PERIOD.

In Memory Of: Roger Stainbrook

Many years ago, as part of my grieving process, I started a tradition of sitting with the memory of those I care about after their transition from this plane of existence. My goal is to honor them by recognizing the gift(s) they gave me to carry forward in my life. I write this for my first KungFu, Tai Chi, Qigong Teacher in honor of our almost 32 year relationship.

It has been 6 Years

January 30th it will be 6 years since my Mom passed away of cancer, and it's myriad of complications. So, this is the 5th year I find myself thinking about my Mom, on her birthday - January 23rd. However, this year is different. very different.

Tai Chi: Meditation in Motion? Really?

Tai Chi is often called "Meditation in Motion". While this conjures up imagery of students basking in the morning sun, gracefully moving through their forms, reflections dancing gently on a nearby pond, I personally feel it is a bit misleading, especially during the first few years of Tai Chi training when simple coordination and concentration are such an effort.
